A bird's-eye view of the Paradise Bridge

The Paradies Bridge spans the Zwickauer Mulde River just as it flows toward the city center. It was completed in 1900. At that time, the old covered wooden bridge, dating from the mid-17th century, had to be replaced. The Paradies Bridge is a riveted steel bridge and was manufactured by the “Fabrik für Brückenbau und Eisenkonstruktionen Beuchelt & Co” in Grünberg, Silesia. It underwent extensive renovation in 2002. It nearly fell victim to the August floods. Thanks to the swift and prudent action of all those responsible, the bridge was saved from the floodwaters. Since 1980, it has been a technical monument and has served as a pedestrian bridge following the inauguration of the new Glück-Auf Bridge.
