The three-story town hall forms the southern side of the Main Market Square. It was built after the great fire of 1403, which completely destroyed the previous building. Of the former structures, St. James’ Chapel remains today in its original condition. Above the main entrance of the town hall, which received its Neo-Gothic façade in 1866–67, the Zwickau coat of arms can be seen.
